Some great words by Mr. O'Malley to accompany COLLECTING EARTHQUAKES in his
ideologic.org shop:
HOLY McGRAIL // Collecting Earthquakes CD
Head Heritage 2005
Debut full length by sometime sunn0))) & Julian Cope Band synthesis storm bringer Holy McGrail. A triage of weirdness. Three 20 minute+ landscapes dense and creeping as retreating glaciers, cloaked in wind and vibes, shimmering on occasion and dark always. The first track "Lady Holle [Holle of Horcum]" has one of the most brain-numbing monoriffs I've heard in ages, continual and relentless plod, melts into drone bliss. Great long form album construction and something akin to pre-cosmic in that way. Featuring contributions by Julian Cope, Doggen and myself.

Really chuffed with the reactions coming in for COLLECTING EARTHQUAKES - some nice emails and words said on the
Head Heritage Unsung forum. On hearing the final thing, Stephen O'Malley called it "weird", a comment which in the context of his own musical output is a far weirder thing than the album itself, surely! He'll have copies for sale on
ideologic.org soon.
The album is, of course, also available through
Head Heritage and this site, and copies should also be surfacing this week at
Aquarius in the US.
Finally in
this month's Drudion, Julian Cope - with attendant disclaimers - described it as "an album to accompany ritual in years to come". Rock!

A new addition to the 'sonic canon' at Totley Loft. Drone bliss.
I've recently twigged that Dronfield, a mile or so south of here, literally means 'Field of the Drones', and to substantiate that, there's a 'River Drone' running through it too. There's a project in that, somewhere.
